Media
Hobart Airport will make every effort to assist media to obtain footage for news and current affairs programs.
Importantly, we respect the right to privacy of our passengers and the airline staff. In order to maintain their comfort level we request that news crews meet the following guidelines when visiting the airport:
- Give prior notice of camera crews filming in the airport. While we understand that breaking news does not always allow for a great deal of warning, we still require as much notice as possible. Please call Becher Townshend, Font PR, 0418 370 661.
- Do not film security staff, or individuals dealing with security equipment.
- Please direct requests for filming check-in counters and airline staff to the relevant airline.
- Avoid filming in areas where passengers and staff cannot move away from cameras, without expressly gaining permission.
Hobart Airport thanks you for your courtesy in abiding by our media guidelines.
Filming
- Written permission must be obtained, and this permission will be granted at Hobart Airport’s discretion
- Negotiations may also be required with Airlines, Government agencies and other partners at Hobart Airport.
- Commercial filming – Permission must be sought at least 10 working days prior to a shoot date for a small production. For larger complex productions at least three weeks notice is required.
- News – Please review our Media guidelines above and direct all enquiries to Becher Townshend, Font PR, 0418 370 661.
Please note:
Filming before passenger screening is more easily accessible. Filming after security but still within the terminal building has greater restrictions. Filming past security and on the Apron or airfield areas is highly restricted and, if granted access, crews will require an escort at all times and crew numbers will be limited.
In order to film at Hobart Airport, you must complete our film indemnity form and contact Becher on 0418 370 661.

Can I fly there?
Please be aware that there are laws around drone use near airports. It is an offence to operate an unmanned aircraft in a way that creates a hazard to another aircraft, another person or property.
CASA have produced an easy-to-use smartphone app illustrating where you’re not allowed to fly. Download and use the app to help you fly your drone safely.
